    Default Crab

I found this crab the other morning dead on part of my live rock. But was just wondering what sort of crab it was?
I know its dead but still would like to know what sort it was and if it was a good or bad crab :D
BTW, it was about an inch in size.

    cheers

hi mate are you sure its dead or is that its shedded shell? check under neath to see if its hollow or not. if it is hollow then chances are its a shedded skin and the crab is still alive. i had one of the same crabs in my tank so i sumped it cos the claws to me look like meat eating claws rather than algae eating ones. just to be safe. DAN:) hope that helped mate.

oops, can't check now as its gone. But it probably is just a skin then, i will have to keep an eye out and if another one pops up then i will give it a good check :D

You can tell I'm still an amateur

hi mate the way i got it out of my tank was to watch for the little blighter in the rocks then once seen if poss (as it was for me) i removed the rock and dipped it in fresh RO (non salted) and watched the sod come running out. if its not poss to remove rock you will need to make a trap, get a glass jar and tie some fishing line round the top, place some food in the jar and lower it in to the tank near to where the crab was seen, wait for the fella to climb in and whip him out. be patient tho it can take a while. DAN:)
