    Default Help with refugium

    Hi,
Could someone please give me some advice if this is possible.
I have a 50l tank sat next to my main tank and if possible would like to use it as a refugium. Is there a simple way to do this without drilling, could I do it with a couple of pumps or is it not that simple???

Hi No you could not do it with pumps as they wont pump the same rate and you would have a flood on your hands. The only way is with a overflow box or have the tank drilled. HTH Twiggy:D:D

Hi Terry yes it is but how do you get the water out of the top tank to flow into the bottom tank without it being drilled or a overflow. As 2 pumps will overtake each other and cause a flood. HTH Twiggy:D:D

what you need is a hole at the top, so but some acrilic and extend the tank, the height only needs to be raised a few inches, make the extention fit snuggly to the outside of the tank and drill a hole in that fill in all the gaps with plenty of silicoln, then raise the tank fit a pipe in the hole so that it can overflow into the main display, if you keep this hole as close to the tank top as possible then there wil be very little (if any) pressure on the acrilic from the water.
