Default Interesting Research & Foreign Fish Puzzle.

Found this when searching the BBC website, it's amazing what research is going on:

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/...st/7280867.stm

What I was looking for on the BBC website was a story about a large foreign fish that was caught in a british river in the last few weeks. My dad was telling me about this but he couldn't remember what the fish was:confused:, where it was caught:confused: or how big it was?

But he had seen a report about it a couple of weeks ago stating that the authorities were worried about this fish's capture as it could potentially out compete our native species!

If anyone has got any idea what this story was about or could point me in the right direction to find an article on it, I would be very grateful! :)

    Cheers

I think the fish you were looking for is the snake head, it was caught in a Lincs river.

That's the one, ugly little blighter isn't it! Thanks for that it has been bugging me ever since my dad mentioned it. Hopefully it is a one off and no more are caught! I'm just starting to think about the new fishing season and don't want to pull one of those on to the bank this summer - I would sh#t% myself!!

So you don't have to search for it here are a couple of articles on the snakehead:

why would you let it freeze in a river? why not just do the old head off with a knife or rolling pin wrapped around it's ugly head??
