    Default Crab ID

    Can anyone help with an id It is a small crab, about 2 ins, dark brown smooth carapace with chain link pattern on the top dark brown or black claws that are tipped with white. Walking legs are light brown and very hairy, and any tips for removing it please

    James is your man nettie he will know what it is also though, rule of thumb is if it has big sharp claws its a fish eater:eek:I managed to get one out of my tank by putting a small plastic bottle into the tank with some food in the bottom crab climbs in and cant climb out cos of the slippy side's:D

    as lee says pointed claws mean xanthid crab nasty lil ******s that need to be removed you can trap them in a plastic bottle

    Has anybody got any more ideas iv been out smarted by the crab lol, its been 6 days now still nothing, using a red light I can see the little git sticking his finger up at me lol, I have used a jar right out side it hole and put all kinds in it mussels, cockles, crab sticks, prawn the only thing is if I put pellet food and a bit of flake in I catch bristle worm and cleaner shrimp, I have tried a lasso but managed to get free now it makes sure he stays under a ledge or coral lol, any advice any at all would be appreciated :)
