    Default leather mushroom

    hi, just added a leather mushroom to my tank.
    it opened the following morning and looked great, now its seems to have shrunk and there seems to be some very fine silky strands which it seems to beable to retract, would be gratefull for any advise, thanks

    Hi Steve,

    More than likely he's just shedding, nothing to worry about, they do it every few weeks to clean themselves.

    Where are the silky strands? A number of worms, vermetid for example, use strands to catch food in the water.

    they are coming from the coral its self, i also think i have seen the worms your talking about, dotted about on the live rock

    hi steve i dont think you ve much to worry about mine does this also as stated above every so often to clean its self, wen it reopens its bigger and better too so would nt worry mate:D

    If it does it too often its a sign that it needs more flow round it IMO but they all do it softies a renowned for sulking every so often:D

    they always seem to shed when you move them,some sulk for days or weeks so nothing to worry about.derek
