Default Tank lighting help stuff on Ebay

    Hi guys,
Im looking for lighting for a 5ft x 2ft x 2ft and have seen these on ebay
4x35W T5 Lighting hanging lamp inst. of halide lamp 150
They are sold by a company called EQJ-Trading. They are based in Germany and the prices dont seem to bad. Has anyone bought from them before and are these lights any good. My tank will house fish, LR and some soft coral. Also could someone tell me the difference between T5 and T8. If you think these lights are no good could you please let me know what you think I should get (cost is an issue).
    Many thanks.

4x35w is not long enough for a 5ft tank. 54w tubes are for 4ft tanks so you would need either these or the next size up.

However if you are considering corals at all (either now or in the future) then it will pay to get a combined halide/T5 unit.

I bought my 4ft (2x150W Halide+2x54W T5 with led roses) from EQJ trading. I must say that the lamp unit once working is excellent for what I paid (£250ish), however their service was not.
The lamp arrived fairly promptly but was badly damaged when it arrived.
Both T5's were nothing but dust, the halide mounts were loose and floating about inside the moulding, as were the LED roses.
I mailed them the pictures I took but got no response. This went on for 3 weeks until I threatened to leave negative feedback when they suddenly answered but still claimed not to have recieved the pics.

To cut a long story short this went on for six months until they turned round and said "its over six months now and thats to old for us to bother with!
I was left to fix the unit and replace the tubes at my own expense which was highly annoying
And all this was despite me paying £12 extra for full insurance!:mad:

Trouble is, even with the £40 extra I paid for the new tubes, the unit was still over a hundred quid less than any similar units so the deal was still worth doing. I just hate being ripped off.
If I need a triple unit for my next tank then I would probably still buy from them, but go into it expecting to have to replace the tubes then I wont be disapointed.

Sorry to ramble on guys but Im still annoyed with them after nearly 2 years!

    Peter

Have just bought a secound hand set of lights. They are 8 x 35w pendant 150cm in length. A new set costs £165 + £15 p&p from EQJ Trading and I got these for £85 all in. Think I got a good deal, seller says tubes are only a month old. I will find out in a couple of days.
