    Default My mushroom Tank

After a weekend of work my mushroom tank is starting to take shape.
there's still much to do but it should look much better tomorrow when the rest of the water is in the tank and the hardward is moved into the sump section

A big thanks to Dave (Dave&Gem) for picking up some RO water for me.

Check out the blog for more pictures.

All the water is in place (thanks Dave) and the hardware has been moved to the sump. This is how the main display area looks at the moment.

so are you going to keep purely mushies?

what flow are you going to aim for and any paticular mushies in mind?

    Hi Panapuffer

Yup Just mushies - will take advice as to the types when the tank is ready.

Flow is currently generated by a powerhead pushing water from the sump and then gravity allowing the water to flow back through a lowered corner in the sump partition wall.

    Latest Pics.

I've added some new Live rock, and the tank has come to life...plenty of hitch hikers.

It will be great to see the various types you can fit in there, from ric's to yuma's to tongan's to even the large elephant ear mushies and the lighting wont have to be too high either.

cant wait to see this after a few months!

why just mushies then? are you sure you wont get tempted to add a few 'other' corals after time?

Its always very satisfying to get the first life in a new tank, no matter how small. I can't wait to see this tank develop, think it will look awesome. I love mushies too, specifically Rhodactis ;)

    Thanks for the kind comments.
I'm going to start with mushrooms because they are hardy and I'm new to corals.
lol - but I suspect that a few other softies may find their way in there over time - especially sometime next year when I set up my main tank.

I really want to get into frag sharing and mushrooms seem like a good place to start.

Thats a great attitude to have start off on the basics and a few months down the line the tank will be going in a totally different direction and thats the fun of this hobby. in 8 years i have gone from FO to softies to know loving twigs (sps)

mushies are easy to frag aswell and can multiple very easily.
