    Default Mantis or not?

I have had clicking from my tank for months now,
Usually it clicks three or four times in succession and then is quite ,

Not lost any stock as far as I am aware apart from a clown a month or two ago and a dead crab?
what else do they feed on when they are small?

Right my point is a couple of days ago I moved a rock and my wife saw what she described as a slug shaped thing move like greased lightning across the tank light in colour and about 1cm in length,

Now when she saw Adam's video of the Mantis coming out of the tube you can just see its back she is certain that is what she saw but smaller:eek:,

If and when I catch it it's going in my sump till I find a home for it,

If it where not for Adam's link wife may not ahave ID it ?,

I even took everything out that could tap on the glass so now nothing touches the glass so it's gotta be a beastie lol:eek:,

    Hi,

May not be a mantis. Pistol Shrimp?

Other thing to consider IIRC snails.

sounds more likely to be a pistol shrimp, they do crack and often in quick succession. IIRC mantis are more of a thud and take a short while to reload, so not with the quick succession.

the thing your wife saw sound very much like a stomatella, they move like 5h1te off a chrome shovel. can be seen first thing on a morning on the glass and rock, or at anytime by turning a rock over. harmless and breed like wildfire, so you'll have no trouble seeing them. look like a slug with a small flat shell on it's back.
