My First Ever Tank - Part 2 - 09/09/06

I have finally taken delivery of my tank. 60x24x18 and sump 48x18x15

I have Live rock and sand in the sump with water whilst I do work on the main tank.

Here are some more pictures for you all out there:

Me connecting the lights, power heads and return pumps tubes, have also painted the back and left side of the tank, aqua blue.

Tank connector - I had a problem trying to get the nut screwed on from the underneath and couldnt manage it. So I decided to just silicone (Aquarium Silicone) the connector in place . IS this ok ???? how long do I need to let it set before it can come into contact with water.

This is Dead reef coral and some ocean rock that I aquired from a Bar that closed at work, Any ideas what I can do with it ?? Im guessing I cant use it in my tank or can I ?

Can I use this at a latter date to attach frags onto it?

are you able to get live rock. ocean rock just displaces valuble water and doesnt look that natural.

If finances allow replave the ocean rock with live rock. The ocean rock is heavy and dense and really does nothing more than displace valuable water volume. Although I am sure the tank connector will have been sealed it would certainly be a worry if it was ever knocked from underneath etc where it would almost certainly spring a leak.

Hi Mike As James has said the nut really wants to be on the tank connecter as if it gets knocked you will have water all over. Can you get someone to hold the connecter from the top and you screw the nut on from the bottom with some fresh silicone around it.HTH Eric

I have finally managed to secure the nut, just waited until the silicone set on the top part, and then somehow managed to lift the tank off the cabnet and screwed it in.
