    I'm not a Mushroom expert but

    That's his internal organs I think (not at bad as it sounds). Have you moved him recently or has a fish had a little nibble?

    They should go back in fairly soon.

    If not post again.

    Somebody please correct me if i'm mistaken.

    was a hermit crab crawling all over it this morning:mad: and there was a brown string hanging of my mushie as well as the spagettie

    yep thats how u know a mushie is distressed or in distress, if it carries on for several days then im sorry but its ciao mushie.

    i dont think its stressed, its been in the same place in my tank for 5 weeks and this is the first time ive noticed its guts hanging out

    These are mesenterial filaments, they are digestive organs. The polyp can evert these and suffer no ill-effects as the filaments can be withdrawn again.
    They can be everted due to stress or rough handling.

    yup as tom says, digestive organs. the brown stuff you saw it extruding would have been waste, it may just have a little something stuck in it's pipes that it's trying to get rid of.
