no power HELP

hi everyone i just wondered if you can help me, last night at 6 o clock my power went off and it is still off at 8 o clock this morning, is my reef tank as good as dead? is the electric company responsible for any losses that i may incurr? how long can a reef tank survive without power, my tank is 24x18x18 so does not hold a huge amount of water, i wrapped my tank in bubble wrap and old blankets but this morning the water was stone cold.

Stone cold? - don't sound good TBH, can you get a genny (on hire).

hi tetley i have been ringing a few hire companies but some are closed and it seems im not the only one after a genny, im trying friends at the mo but its not looking good,starting to panic a little but i cant think of anything else i can do,tried calling the leccy but just get put on hold. i will keep you updated

hi macca yes i have gas in the house but i cant turn it on because my boiler has electronic ignition to light the pilot, im not sure if i can light it manually so if anyone knows im open to suggestion

hi macca my tank is filtered with about 10 kg of live rock, i use an internal power filter to circulate water and remove sediment, my filter is loaded with activated carbon and filter floss for particle removal

is there no local shops which might have some spare tanks you could use,otherwise the lenght of time your power has been off your stock wont survive.the power companys never accept responsibillity for anything,so you might have a struggle trying to get any compensation from them.sorry we cant help but keep us updated.derek
