    Default fin damage

over the last 2/3 days ive notices that one of my yellow tangs has a few rips in ith dorsal fin as has the moorish idol and the yellow fin tang has a white lump in its dorsal fin,

these fish have always been freindly towards each other and they are swimming around with each other as i type this.

they all eat algea that is growing on the powerheads could there fins be getting suched up into the impellors (seio by the way) or could something else be attacking them like a large green brittle star

    i dont think it would be any other fish, i have;

    2 yellow tangs
    2 regal tangs
    1 yellow fin tang
    1 moorish idol
    4 common cloun fish
    2 green chromis
    1 cherub angel
    1 cleaner wrasse
    1 juvenile emperor angel
    1 royal gramma
    1 blue stripe gobie (somewhere)
    2 scooter blennies
1 tiny little orange and white thing that i cannot find an id for anywhere

all this is making me think that the brittle star has started getting a taste for fish.

Could it be a baddie crab having a swipe at them?

    Is the brittle star green?

Yes:o i only found out that they ate fish after i put it in the tank.

the only other thing that has changed is that i disconnected the auto feeder (because i changed the stand) and they seem to be more "agressive" when i feed by hand.

I have know brittle stars to attack fish, especially the big green ones. They stand on all legs and wait for a fish to go under them, then they sort of try sitting and grabbing onto the fish.

Try putting some meaty food like a cockle in the sand to keep it happy.

Either that or swop it for a nicer starfish.

I notice you have 2 regal tangs. FWIW my regal tang is quite a bully and is the only fish in my tank that'll rip the fins of my other fish when in a bad mood. Could it be one of them?
