    Default Mandarin Fish

So what do I need to know about the Mandarin Fish?

I know it is a slow grazer and therefore likes really mature rock to graze from.

I know it also likes copeods. It is a good idea to find out if they eat prepared / frozen food before you purchase a fish.

I guess as it settles into its environment it could become slightly territorial.

Is it worth getting a refugium and breeding pods in it?

    Cheers

    Great stuff.

I'll ask Mr Tee if it would be alright for me to print it off and supply to a friend who wants one.

    Thanks

Hi Ben Most Manderins dont take food and they have to live on copeods etc that are in the rock. Therefore you will need rather a lot of live rock ei 100kgs to sustain a Manderin in a tank, so make sure your friend knows this as the Maderin will starve. My Manderin does not eat food that i feed he just picks at the rocks which there is about 200 kg in my tank so he his ok and nice and fat. HTH Eric:D

Thanks Eric, I will tell him. I think, unless he gets really lucky and finds one that will take frozen in the shop, I will have to suggest he does not bother.

I only have 28kgs in my tank and, whilst hunting for the clicking shrimp last night (hooping it's a noisy pistol) I saw loads of pods. Really amazed me.

Careful, John Reid is after new rules on keeping Hijackers and Terrorists behind bars without charge! :D

    Interesting question though.
