RICORDEA MUSHROOM
(Not Ricordia Yuma) !!!
Ricordea mushroom corals have the wow factor and in the most gorgeous of colours that are available to the aquarium keeper. They add a diversity of both color and texture to the saltwater reef aquarium.
You can see some of the colours available in the pictures below, some of them even glow under flourescent actinic lighting. WOW you just need to see to appreciate it 100%
Ricordia mushrooms will adapt to a variaty of lighting conditions just as long as they are allowed to acclimatise slowy to the lighting in the tank, by being placed on the bottom and then gradually moved into its final position over a few weeks.
It prefers a low water movement within the aquarium. It is considered semi-aggressive and requires adequate space between itself and other corals. I have had no problems with this coral and have sevral within my tank.
It reproduces by longitudinal fission. Or can be fragged with some care.
Zooxanthellae hosted within it provide the majority of its nutritional requirements from the light driven process of photosynthesis. It also eats plankton and smaller invertebrates such as crustaceans.
