had a go today, just cut one off and put it in a breeding trap (for guppies etc) in side the tank with LR rubble and some crushed coral, put a rubber band loosely over the mushroom, will see what happens :)
Can you please keep this thread updated and let us know how it goes, I bought a mushroom colony a couple of months ago with 7 different species on it and it now very overcrowded, need to have a go myself soon

Make sure their is movement of water around the fragged mushroom. Putting it in a fish trap is a bit risky.
Although it does not want a lot of flow it needs fresh water to shift the mucus build up because it gathers bacteria.
When cutting mushrooms (especially ricordea) make sure you cut throught not only the mouth but the foot also. Line the mushroom up so the foot and mouth are directly underneath one another before cutting.
