    Default Star fish

    Hi all,

I would like a star fish but I would like a nice bright colour one,
I have been told that the brighter the colour the more dificult they are to keep?

Somthing to do with the bacteria they carry is lost in transportation and the star fish loses it;s immune system?,

    Thanks Rob.

some of the brighter one like the blue linkia and red fromia dont travel too well. it's all down to handling and no matter how careful your LFS is you dont know further down the line if they've been handled out of the water etc.

Macca will be able to tell you more. Certainly if you see any starfish at LFS on or near the surface avoid them, they're supposed to be trying to get rid of air trapped inside them. never expose a starfish to air when bagging or unbagging if your LFS does this tell them you dont want it. Also avoid any that show signs of damage however minor, these things are hard enough to keep when they're well.
