sorry James but from what i understand a lot of, or to much iodine causes crustacea molt to fast hence early death,

as stated by Shimekdo do not add exess iodine , which will cause premature molting and lower life expectancy,(Marine inverts page 244) but i have also read this in a number of places, also shrimps are very sensitive to fish waste ie hi nitrites/nitrates,

If there is low iodine then they have difficulty molting = death also. :p

If the system is low in iodine the shrimp will find it harder to molt, if too much iodine it will molt to quick both equal stress which can result in death

I have had the peppermints for about 2 months and each have molted once, the sexy has shown no signs of molting and the cleaners didn't last long enough to molt.

I'm goning to try a cleaner in the larger 4 foot tank this weekend to see if thats ok.

Bought 2 more cleaners on Saturday doing well only shrimp in the new 56 gal system.

I have had my two new cleaners now for over 2 weeks. They are in a separate system away from my bullying Peppermints.
