    Default My Nano tank

    Hi guys,

So here is my tank thread. This is probably the best my tank has ever looked :-) nowhere near comparable to some of the tanks ive seen on here, but its a start :-)

    Quick history

I started with a larger tank than this (didnt have a lot of success with it, mainly it was a tank of hair algae), but then i moved away to uni, so downsized to a nano, leaving this in the care of my parents.

Since coming back from uni ive given the tank an overhaul which it needed. Water quality was pretty poor, and i unfortunately lost one of my clowns.

    The tank today

So as said ive done a bit of a tank overhaul. Cleaned all the filters, made an internal filter/ reactor type thing with phosphate remover in. I also did a LOT of water changes, thanks to the advise on here. So now water quality is back to normal and im at the stage of starting to add more stock to the tank.

    Current parameters;

SG 1.024 raising to 1.025 over the week until i do a water change.
    Nitrate 2.5-5
    Phosphate 0.03-0.1

All tested using salifert kits, and these params have held for the last few weeks.

    Equipment

I run a skimmerless system, which seems to be working well for now, i hjust do regular water changes and have a piece of filter floss in the rear chamber
Lighting is 2x compact flourescent, 1 blue 1 white T5`s

    Stock

    Fish
    2 Chromis
    1 Clown

    Lots of mushrooms

    Inverts

    Oh also,

Any suggestions for a new coral? Im looking for something with a bit of colour, but not too sure what to get, any suggestions of what you think would look good would be much appreciated.
Im also trying to get rid of the algae (not the corraline) on the back, which is going slowly, then id like to get some corals growing on it to cover the blue.

    Cheers,

    Matt
