    Default Need Clown Fish Help

    Hi all,

Everytime i turn on my lights in the morning my clownfish has lost his colour in his face. During the day the orange comes back. Then the next morning same thing again? He seems to be eating fine, but i wondered if these symtoms should be something to worry about?

    Thanks in advance.

Not an expert but I would say deffo not. Its common for all marine fish to look a little washed out when they are sleeping / resting.

I'd agree with Macca on this one. I would expect colour to stay gone if it was something wrong. Stewart

Out of interest, do you main lights come on from complete darkness? If so this is unnatural and may cause stress. A bit like lying in a black whole then getting mid day sun suddenly shone down.

I dont have seperate switches for my blue & white bulbs.

but i do turn on the living room lights first & open the curtains for a good half hour before turning on the lights as i thought it might shock them.

I've looked in the tank before turning the lights on & can see that the colour has faded.

good shout though, might have to invest in a seperate lighting system.

I have a strip of those high power blue LED's wired up to a separate timer that come on an hour or so before the main light, and an hour or so after them, still a sudden change but it does give a dusk or bright moonlight effect, and not as sudden as staight to full light...about a tenner on ebay for the LED's by the way.

I'd say it was nothing to worry about, several of my fish lose their colour like this at night. My mandarin is the worst, goes very pale.
