Live rock? What size is your tank lighting? just curious.
I think it may be a while before I'm ready for live rock, in just trying to collect everything ready.
I'm glad you mentioned lights, cos I'm stumped lol ( which is why live rock is a while off ). My tank is a Roma 200 and it just has the standard lights, one White and one blue. But this isn't adequate is it? I've no idea what to get I really haven't so any help or advice appreciated :)
Depends on what you want some corals like high light some like low light it depends on what you want to get ETC ETC.
test kits. ammonia, nitrate, nitrite for starters.
refractometer. RO unit. Algae magnet.
RO unit is on order, I'm guessing my testing kits are going to be different than I get for my trops, which would you recommend?
salifert are good.
Where are you planning on getting your water from? You might want to add an RO unit to your list (tell hubby it's for his Xmas so he doesn't feel left out! lol) unless you know someone nearby who can supply you water. Be careful if your planning to get RO from LFS as they are generally poor at changing filters regularly so water quality might not be as good as it should be. As for lights it's down to individual choice whether you want T5 strip lighting or halide/T5 combos and depends on what you want to keep in livestock. Read on here at some of the tank threads and it'll give you an idea then ask away. You're right about the live rock, wait until you're ready to fill the tank and keep your eyes peeled for rock someone is selling who is giving up or downsizing for better quality and less hitchhikers. You will need a refractometer to check your salt levels in the tank.also good quality RO water to mix the salt with. Twiggy
