    Default upgrade from a d-d 24g nano to a betta lifespace 1500

    Current FTS 11/09/2011

sorry for the bad image its on my phone the misses has the slr

On the 13th of july i started a 24g d-d nano and as soon as i started it i was planning on getting a bigger tank as i new i was not going to be happy with the size of the nano.

The equipment on the tank is

    Lighting

Aqua one mg-d 1500 triple halide with 3 14k bulbs
2 aquaray all blues and a reef white on the display
1 aquaray marine white lighting the sump where i have my cheato

    circulation

2 tunze 6100 ran individually buy 7091 controller (still need a multi controller)
1 koralia 3 aimed under the egg crate
The return which is a eheim 5000+ on full power

    Filtration

In my 1st chamber I have a Filter sock on the inlet to the sump into the first chamber where I have a layer of filter floss and my skimmer pump then going into the inlet of my 2 litre chippypah reactor with 1/2ltr d-d np pellets then the outlet into my Hydor performer 1000 duo skimmer.

In the baffle of between 2-3 i have more filter floss

3rd chamber has about 10kg of live rock and cheato lit by a marine white aquaray

in the 4th chamber i have my return and yet more live rock

and a Kent Nautilus reactor running a 700lph pump with reef scientific phosphate media

    Fish
    1 yellow tang
    1 baby regal tang
    1 cleaner wrasse
    A pair of common clowns

    Inverts

    1 cleaner shrimp
    1 peppermint shrimp
    15+ hermit crabs
    10+ various snails
    1 banded brittle star
    1 other brittle star
    1 long spine urchin
    1 tuxedo urchin

I already had a fair bit of equipment for the upgrade before i got the nano as i was going to get a bigger tank to start with but as funds were low i decided to get the d-d and collect all the equipment i needed before getting the bigger tank.

    I currently have

    Betta lifespace 1500
    Hydor performer 1000 duo
    V2 1500 calcium reactor
    2x tunze 6100's with 7091 controllers
    Chippypah 2 litre reactor
    Kent marine nautis reactor
    Phosban 150
    Various other power heads (hydor 3's 4's seio's m620)
    Eheim 5000+ return
Aqua one MG-D 1500 triple 250w halides with 14k bulbs
Fluval u300 heater controlled by a atc 800+
4 aquaray 2 all blue 1 reef white and 1 marine white

I'm sure there is alot of other equipment laying around but will add when I find it

    Not really sure how much live rock i will be using at the moment as i have 12kg in my nano and over 80 kg in my curing tank in the shed which will be moved over once cured ;
    ammonia 0
    nitrite 0
    nitrate 25
    phosphate 0.36

The curing tank will the be turned in to a frag tank 4x2x15"tall run by a hydor performer 600dp and what ever equipment I don't use on the main display.

I have managed to get the unit built and ready for the tank but as i work night its hard to get the help to take it out the car so looks like it gonna be in there until the week end

The next update will probably be the weekend once the tank is in I just hope my luck changes from now on.

Well today we managed to get the tank out of the car at 7:40am this morning as friends were due to go off on holiday.

I have placed a order with coral culture for 2x 25mm tank connectors as there was 1 with the tank hope to receive that by Thursday then i will try and work out how the pipes get laid out and work out how im going to set up my sump.

all i need now is to get a ro unit and salt and wait for my egg crate to turn up.

Here is some photo's before cleaning

And after a quick clean still some coralline on the weir but ran out of stanley blades

    07/09/2011

Well got my RO unit yesterday so the big fill has started i did 50 litres last night which took 5 1/2 hours.

Its now going directly into the tank so this is going to be a very long wait.

I'll be getting the salt on Thursday and going to be going for red sea coral pro

Thats all for now ill update sometime in the next few days

    07/09/2011

Its really going slow but im in no rush it is raising in the tank by about 1cm an hour.

So its going to be about another 46 hours.

not looking forward to the rockscape though here are a few pics of the curing tank.

Well the way its going the tank should be full by tomorrow around 5pm ordered the rscp from h20 aquatics today fingers crossed it will turn up tomorrow

Here is a photo of my two piles of rock and a little bridge the tank is NOT staying like this i ran out of putty on the first two layers of rock will be a lot more hiding places and holes.

The equipment on the tank is

    Lighting

Aqua one mg-d 1500 triple halide with 3 14k bulbs
2 aquaray all blues and a reef white on the display
1 aquaray marine white lighting the sump where i have my cheato

2 tunze 6100 ran individually buy 7091 controller (still need a multi controller)
1 koralia 3 aimed under the egg crate

In the baffle of between 2-3 i have filter floss

Nice one, looks to be coming on nicely. I've got a couple of those electric blue hermits too, they're cool, but a bit of a bull in a china shop, always knocking my frags about, but otherwise great chaps, and very striking with their stripy legs.
