My latest venture is a 6'X2'X2' reef tank with a 5'7"X20"X15" sump. Not one ounce of LR in the tank or in the sump. The tank was filled with water & salt on 4-2-07 it was dosed for 8 days with stability and i then tested the water parms on 11-2-07 and found all to be ok. I moved some live stock into the tank 12-2-07. I have been stocking with fish & corals and have had no problems.
The tank has two corner weirs that discharge in to filter socks in the sump, which in turn flows onto bio-balls then over the filter floss and then in to teh engin bay. The engin bay is 2X 9000lt/hr pond pumps,1-UV unit, 2-carborlite reactors, 2-hang on skimmers on each end on the sump. The return water from the sump is bounced off the front of the tank to give the required water movement. As you can see from the photos you could water ski on the top of the tank. Also this method does away with power heads, wave boxes clutering up the tank. The lighting of the tank is done by way of a 6' 3X150w metal halid with 4 atanic blues built in.
