    Default Unknown hitchiker crab

    Its a long shot but thought id put up a description up as i cant get a photo, the little guy is rarely seen

    -1.5"
    -Yellow ish in colour with a reddy/brown top shell
    -rather short stumpy front pincers
    -hairly ish legs
    -burrows into the sand bed under rock where hes seems to stay 90% of the time
    -comes out at night only

    ?? any ideas, should I be worried

    Dont Think its a different type of mithrax Brad, as its claws are quite different and it moves very differently from my emerald, more like a spider.

    Not quite hairy enough for a teddy bear I think, but it is probbably top of the suspect list at the mo :)

    Will try get a photo, I know its so much easier with a pic! but Ive probably only ever seen him 3-4 times and hes quick to hide away when Ive noticed him, thanks for the input though guys.

    look for a gorilla crab, very common in our reefs

    ah yeah that looks abit more like it, he does have the black tips on the pincers. Are they good/bad?

    bad, try a google on xanthid crabs [large family]
