Nice tank - I can't believe thats a Jewel 180 it looks so much bigger than that.

Its a shame your dismantling it. Got any plans for another tank?

    Hi Simon
I am brand new and trying to pick up tips from where ever i can, i am looking at setting up a Juwel 400, i have been advised to remove the built in filter, what are your veiws on this? did you run your tank with or without? By the way your tank looks great. Bob

Hi Bob. Simon 180 has left his home and stripped his tank down and gone off to college. I believe he has taken his tank with him and gone to Sparsolt, and the college have given him one to setup and use for his studies, nice eh. If you are wanting to use your jewel 400 for marines i would say take out the filter completely, and just use live rock and a good skimmer for filtration. If you have an external filter use it for carbon and phosphate remover, and clean it out and change the media regulary unless it will start to produce nitrates.

Are you going to run a sump with your system or just have every thing inside the tank, if you have not set up your tank yet i would suggest you have it drilled and fit a sump, any LFS will advise you how to do it and maybe do it for you. The best way to setup a marine system is to do it right the first time, and if you have to start messing about altering things when its setup its a PITA. If you need any help at all just ask as no question is a stupid one, and its better to ask than do it wrong. :) HTH Eric
