Hi guys.
Will upload pics when I get on my laptop but for now does anyone know of snails that can swim? I know it sounds crazy but I have a small (I mean small!!) one that makes an appearance once in a while and phyically swims!!!!
As said will upload pics when I'm next on my laptop so you can see the snail as finally got some half decent pics of it after many times trying.
Cheers
It's definately a snail as managed to get the macro feature to focus in on what I actually wanted to capture for a change lol.
Give me 10 mins and I'll go grab my laptop and resize the pics and get them uploaded.
ok uploaded the video to YouTube but again the quality is poor!
the snail is the small erratic blob in the video and also in the video are a couple of algae hermits of which the largest is about an inch long (the shell it lives in) so gives some sort of scale)
PS only just uploaded it so if it dosnt work, try later as no idea how long it can take.
lost on this one, as most swimming snails (sea butterflys) dont have a shell. Whilst yours clearly does have a shell. Depending on how small it is, could it be changing from the larvae stage? which is a swimming stage.
with the markiings i immediatly thought sundial snail, but it's the wrong colour. then found this guy: Collonista amakusaensis.
here's the link: http://www.melevsreef.com/id/collonista.html
let us know if that's the one.
Boyu orca TL-550 nano reef, 3000ltr wavemaker, 300w heater.
actually checked again and that's not it,

Macca: it could be, but ive seen it for a couple of months and its not gotten any bigger at all, but will see if it does get bigger.
In my upgrade tank thread ive put a picture up of a minute hermit I found in the tank too! its in a shell that you normally find in the bags of sand you buy etc and the shell is no more than 10mm long! so where that came from is a mystery too, as only thing I can think is that possibly my hermits dropped a load of fry and that one was just dam lucky enough to survive and grow enough to be lucky to find a small enough shell for it to make its home lol.!!!
Definately never had such unusual critters in a tank before, and some bits i have are around for a short while after initial setup etc but tend to die off wheras in this tank theyre still doing well (some critters with a single tentacle type thing with a blob type swelling on the end that just waft in the water (not the ones with fine nets) and theyre breeding as popping up all over the place, so thinking that theyre feeding off the zeo mulm)

sailin: i do have similar snails to the link you showed me lol!! but its definately not one of those as the shell on the one above looks like it has slash marks cut across the shell.
