Green Star Polyp(Pachyclavularia violacea) is an encrusting type coral that has bright green polyps or occasionally light brown or gray. It has a large bright center to each polyp and when they are retracted the mat is dark purple,
Star Polyps prefer strong, indirect lighting and strong current. Occasional blowing off of any accumulated detritus may be needed. This is an easy coral to care for. It will grow quickly and cover the substrate upon which it lives, covering everything in its' path. Filamentious algae can smother it, make sure there is no algae in the aquarium before you put in the green star polyps. This coral can overgrow stony, so avoid placing in areas where it can encrust them.
