is it possible to drain say a litre of rotis from the reactor and replace with tank water and a bit of ro to the appropriate sg. (obvously keeping an eye on the tank's sg). could you do this?

the idiots guide says that mixing a new batch of water is better, and avoid using tank water as it can crash the culture. i have used tank water from my new tank as the sg is still low as i'm increasing it abit at a time and there is no fish or corals in the tank yet.
