some advice please

hi will be setting up my nano again in the new year,but i would like some advice on what type of overhead lighting i can use on a 24g d&d as i would like to go open top ,all advice would be appreciated and is there any sponsors on here that would sell a light to fit or could some one recommend a stockist ,thanks donna

Hi the TMC Tile is an ideal light for a Nano, it can be mounted on top or if open topped hang from the ceiling. People say they are not a good light but i find them well made and strong not flimsy like some LEDs also the power they use is a factor at 30 watts for all or 15 watts if only half used. They are a bit pricey but if your just starting out again and have no lights i think they are a good investment as you have 5 years plus of lighting without renewing a bulb. Twiggy

.............and you won't have issues with heat as halides give.

thanks for getting back to me ,i wasnt planning on keeping anything to hard to keep ,probably zoas and rhodactis and one or two fish as i would be doing the up keep myself

thanks for the advice i will have a look at those as it probably works out cheaper in the long

well then what twiggy mentioned will be fine, or a small 3 or 4 tube t5 unit, i asked because id always avoid a halide on a small tank due to heat problems, unless sps corals are the main livestock added, then other factors need addressing, good luck, i think a 24 gallon nano with a few small fish and soft corals is a great tank personally. and it will be a pleasure to own i suspect as well.

thanks michael ,it is just for myself although i will probably be in big tank releaving paul of some of his corals lol ,i did have it set up before but we had builders for year and half so had to close it down for awhile

hi eric ,i cant find the light you mentioned above as this one seems to have replaced it would this do the same job please see link below
