Group buys are absolute no brainers in my point of view.
The customer gets the product he/she wants for less money.
The retailer gets a lot of sales all in one go. If I was a retailer I'd much rather sell a bulk load of items very quicky for a bit less money than sell the odd item each week/month. Group buys are also guarenteed income as usually the buyer has to pay for the items in advance.
Bring on group buys
I'm all for them.
But, I do think we need some controls / guidelines in place to protect sponsors! Maybe it need to be done anonymously due to other issues I won't go into here ;)
Maybe sponsors could take it in turn to organise group buys?
For example, I need some more phosphate media. No way I am paying £16 for 150 g per month. Maybe Muzzy would do us a group buy on phosphate remover?
I'm sure this is something we all use and could justify getting in bulk?
hi all ,we think group buys are great as long as you use sponsors where possible ,also if you are like us were we are dotted about all over it is alot easier having group buys or more delivered to one place ,and saves on postage as you can share the postage, and also people should thank the person for offering this service :bigthumbup::bigthumbup::bigthumbup:

The problem is, I think some sponsors may shy away from wanting to do group buy deals.
It gets very policital!
I guess its a matter of someone drawing the boundary line as to what is acceptable (which all sponsors agree on), then making sure we all abide by it.

What discount would we get for buying 2 pallets of salt :D:D:D every other month.
How many buckets do you get on a pallet?
A few places sell H20 on a buy 3 for £120. That works out at £40 a bucket cost to the customer when participating in this deal.
Now, I assume the retailers aren't selling this at a loss.
I assume the said retailers buy two or three pallets at a time to get best price.
Most places tend to sell one bucket of H20 for around £55.
I reckon when purhasing at trade, two to three pallets - the trade cost per bucket is £30 - 35 (including delivery fee and VAT)
PS. I have not seen any price lists relating to salt and the buy 3 for £120 is advertised in a few places publicially. This is just me thinking out loud!!
Question is. If enough of us took part, would a supplier let us have one bucket for £35 a time?
Or, are my back of fag packet costings well off!
Group buys , gotta be a good idea, must be a win win situation
