A good forum is like a good wine improves with age
you done any mods to your? upgraded the pumps on mine, have 2300 return pump, 2500 and 3000lph circ pump. got the bioball chamber as a 24/7 lit fuge with live rock rubble, egg crate elevating live rock, same elevating the skimmer to enable me to draw more air into the skimmer. 3ft t-5 actinic, 2little fishes phos reactor.
Very, Very, Very nice. Looks so healthy.:)
Nice tank you have it looks very healthy and clean. Twiggy:grouphug:
Yes Mate, The right hand compartment is full of pumps! I have an Eheim 2400Lph plus 3x 1000Lph in there all pointing in different directions & 3 of them via a wavemaker (cheap & effective) There is another 1100Lph in the opposite top left corner whice reverses the flow. I have uprated the filter return pump in the middle bottom & fed the flow round the back of the rocks to avoid dead spots. The flow rate is quite hectic but certainly seems to work. I have taken all the filter media out & replaced it with 2x food safe food containers (the ones youre supposed to put breakfast cereal in) they are nearly a dead fit. One of the pumps puts a little flow through the refugium and one cascades into another.
Better still the mRs Hasnt noticed they've gone yet!
I put about 2" of reef base & a handful of Caulerpa in there (pruning the caulerpa back weekly), last time I lifted one of the refuge containers out, it was alive with what I think were Mysis shrimps (?) I got hold of a Ratz nitrate filter & that drips back into the tank, quite effective has got the nitrate down to nearly nothing. The rotten egg smell is only noticeable if you stick your head right near the water level, so no problem.
Following one of your instructions, Cl0wn, I made up a phosphate reactor from a sealed IP65 light fitting, just like yours with the sponges in each end. I filled this full of Phosvec and seems to be working well.
I have made a light shroud to fit over the standard aqua medic halide & added 4x 15W tubes in the available space. Made this out of black acrylic sheet & lined it with reflective thermal sheeting (the stuff from B&Q for insulating behind radiators).
Thats all the mods to my Perc 90 apart from removing all the cables out of the internal flue to the cupboard - I am an Electrical Engineer by trade and tend to view this flue as a distaster waiting to happen (saltwater leaching down the vertical cabling straight into the sockets) I have modifed all the electrics aswell & will get a photo or two of that aswell.
Anyway. youve probably nodded off by now reading all this, I'll get more photos. Cheers Charlie:D
Very nice, well done ;)
