    Default Timo's puddle build thread

    Timo's puddle build thread

    Tank

    Rimless :D

    Tank size 48x34x18" LWH

Glass 12mm thick and thinking about low iron front and sides :D

    Filtration

    Bubblemaster 200 skimmer
    Zeovit reactor
    Carbon reactor
    Live rock

    Bacteria driven system.

    Possible dual pipe overflow.

    Fish and corals

    Low fish stock and SPS.

Most of these will come from my current tank nicknamed Fraggle Rock and fraggle rock will be no more :( but I will have a new tank Timo's Puddle :D not sure on the name yet lol.

Fraggle Rock taken in June 09.

    View in the room.

A few more drawings I did on the CAD of the tank to get a feel of what it will/should look like :D

Comments, advise and questions all welcome!

Drawn with Google Sketchup 7 the free version and then rendered in HyperShot v1.9.

Thanks, I use a different CAD system for work everyday so it was kinda easy to get the hang of Sketchup. I like Sketchup becasue its a free CAD program and the price of solidworks etc is way too much.

That looks like an awesome set up Timo !

What materials are you using for the cabinet and will it be constructed or cladded onto a metal or wood frame?

I still haven't totally made my mine up on what material the black outer will be. It will have a thick wooden base which will hold all the weight of the tank and then I was thinking about black acrylic panels covering it which will all be removable so I can get to any part of the sump easier. I know the acrylic panels will be expensive so they could end up wood painted black if I'm skint by then lol.

If I do make the front one piece I will make it removable but also bottom hinge it to make it easy quick access to the sump (skimmer cup etc) without having to take the hole front off, well that's the idea I just have to make it now
