Hi all, something I've never needed to ask but now need to know is can you keep the different types/colours together or does it end up in all out war?
Cheers... Barry
I've got the red legged and dwarf blue legged in together, I'm not sure exactly what is going on but on two occasions I have noticed the blue legs taken over a red legs shell and the red legged is lying dead on the sand, I don't know if the red legged just died and then the blue took over his shell or if the blue killed the red legged. I haven't seem them physically fight over a shell.
Just my observations in my tank :)
Thanks for that mate... I know one of the reasons hermits do fight is to get bigger shells so I usually have some scattered around the back that are bigger than the ones they have.
Could be yours are fighting because they're different colours though... will have to see if anyone else has the same in their tank...
Cheers... Barry
I've found red legs and dwarf micro blues get along fine. I have had various other evil little ******s though. black and white zebra leg with grey claws are nasty pieces of work and will attack blues and reds. I actually found one of these in the kitchen after it'd climbed out of the tank. blue and black leg green clawed will attack any of the above seemly regardless of how many spare shells you have. (sorry dont know the latin names)..
Tankless - It's all gone... I'll be back one day...
Zebra legs are very Racist!
Cheers guys... seems like there's something in this. Will tread carefully...

I have halloween, orange claw, micro blue, polka dot and a small paguristes and a couple of unidentified that all seem get along ok. They seem to stay away from each other apart from the orange claws who fight between themselves. Hth
IMO,
stay away from calcinus.elegans, stick with calcinus.tibicen ;-)
We keep our hermit crabs together if that helps.
