    Lightbulb Nems look very ill...

I've just blasted some of my Aips with a teaspoon of 95% Sodium Hydroxide mixed with a small dish of water. Used a Turkey Baster. Some gave up right away while others fight on & convulse. There is a snow topping on the sand & rock where it fell. Is this normal & how long until it goes? Are you sure that the corrosive stuff won't hurt my fishies? I'll wait a good few days before doing anymore.

personally i would prefer to use calcium hydroxide (kalk) and not sodium hydroxide (caustic soda), i would also use it in a syringe, as you must have had to use a lot to fill a turkey baster. i would up your flow to get it in suspension and clear it out of the tank.

''The only difference between this and the kalk method is the spectator ion (Ca2+ as opposed to Na+).
Kalk will do the same thing to your hand as sodium hydroxide, at a much much slower rate.''
Interesting stuff. When the fish might think it's a bit of food though, imagine a mouth full of kalk! :frown:

I failed to try the boiling water method before spending hard earned on potions! Never mind I'm having fun killing them.
