Do i have a mantis???????????????
I emptied my tank yesterday prior to doing so i had to remove the livestock i had decided that i would take all the rock out as i drained the tank down to a suitable level to make it easier to catch the fish , i repeatedly reminded myself to make sure i caught the cleaner shrimps which were on the edge of a cave on the rh side of the tank they were deffinately there when i started to empty the live rock out . i removed the majority of the live rock and placed into the temporary tanks . caught all the fish then set about catching the cleaner shrimps which were nowhere to be seen i have checked all the rock in all the tanks i have checked the floor the drain the sand but i cant find them anywhere . i also have list of missing livestock.
one pair of peacock gobies
2 percula clowns
another 3 cleaner shrimps
a yellow tang that looked like it had been in a fight with a pair of garden shears
2 ghost shrimps
sand sifting gobie
The only evidence of any predator is a 1inch long crab which i found down a hole in a peice of rock tho he was a nasty looking little fella i wouldnt think he was big enough to attack shrimps twice his size . i have found hermit crab shells that have been smashed open and also empty snail shells
I wonder wether my clarkii clown has pushed them into my long tentackle nem . I had thought along the lines of mantis shrimp but where would it hide i checked every peice of live rock for things lurking in holes when i removed it.
unless whatever is in there covers the hole back up after going back in.
im confused any ideas anyone :confused::confused::confused:
