Flow through a sump (across a DSB) sould be around 10x the tank volume,

e.g for a 300ltr tank a fow of 3000lph should be put through the sump this will designate the return pump you need :D

Hi Rob i was always told that you need a good fast flow over a DSB how true it is i dont know. Since i have put my Red Dragon 10,000 LPH pump on the return instead of a OR6500 on my tank it looks loads better, so fast flow sems to works as its my first DSB its all trial and error. Best of luck m8 with your new sump layout i am sure it will be ok knowing you. Twiggy:D:D

Thanks Eric fingers crossed should be about a week or so before I start and then hopefully set it up how I want it at the moment I have a load of LR about tennis ball size down wards in the sump this needs to go as well I think its just collecting crud ,

Just an after thought whats the best way to get the sand to go live also what CUC would you recommend in the DSB 30cm X 39cm 7cm deep,

    Rob.

Seeding from an established DSB, there is no better way IMHO
