    Default Refugium

    Seriously thinking of fitting a 24" Fuge to my sump,

    Any advice on substrate set up

    measurements will be 24" X 10" X 3.5"

    Hi Rob its personal choice m8, you can use Miracle Mud or Mineral Mud or Live Rock rubble for pods to live in. Personally i would put ordinary sand in the small stuff and put some different algaes in like chaeto and the broad leaf one that roots in the sand/ You will need it above your tank so the return go back to the tank, so the pods etc will go in for the fish especially a Manderin if you have one.     i don't have anything in mine as the pods breed like billy-o amongst the cheeto, plus the flow is fed from underneath, you don't really need substrate, but might as well. what about coarse coral gravel or rock rubble for extra pod hidey holes. or sugar fine sand or miracle (?not:rolleyes:) mud to do a bit of extra filtration.
