    Default What Camera ?

Looking to get a camera DSLR with a budget of around 500 quid.

Purpose of the camera is :
To mainly be used on my tank to take photos of corals and fish.
Some genral photos when out and about.

Will I need extra lenses ?
Is a tripod worth getting ?

Your opinions are greatly appreciated cheers.

    Canon EOS 450D?

    or

    Nikon D60?

I'd probably go for the Canon myself now after many months of drooling over the D60

Tripod, yep, it's a must. I got one off fleabay brand new for £10. Lots about on there.

kids, if you drive down the road with your windows open, music blaring and you think you look cool.....

Just remember, everybody looking at you is thinking "what a pratt" and laughing at you.

If its you first DSLR might be worth just getting the Nikkon D40 (still a great cmaera) which would leave you some money for lenses etc a macro lens will cost you £200-300

In my camera mag, the sony alpha beat the canon and Nikon to top budget DLSR slot. I have a 40)D and cant fault it though, just wish I would pull my finger out and get a better lens!.
