Over the past few months none of my mushrooms really seem to be opening up fully, like getting full size like they use to??
Nothing has changed so i wondered why they have done this? Some of then used to be a good 4-5 inch across know they are all small?
I heard some people can keep them while others cannot?
Any comments welcome.

Hi Andy mushrooms are nutrient loving animals and dont like a clean tank, they like low flow and light with plenty of nitrates etc. The more you neglect them the better they grow, if your tank is clean they will struggle. Do you remember when Reef Ranch was open Chris had that clean water his mushies went white and bleached out. HTH Twiggy:D:D
I have upgraded to a 48x26x30inch with a 40x18x18 sump which as a Bubble Magus NAC7 skimmer with a Eheim compact 5,000 return pump.
Don't like a clean tank :eek::eek:
Come to think, they started to decrease in size after the upgrade in skimmer from my old prism to the mce600, wonder if this has anything to do with it?
They are all mostly on my live rock, hidden under my leathers so quite sheltered for light and in low flow.
So whats the answer, neglect the tank more?

hi andy,you know what my mushies are like in my tank and i dont clean it that much and only do water changes when i can be bothered,and there loving it in there,reminds me of rabbits,my cousin had a rabbit for 15 years and only cleaned cage maybe ever 2-3 months,yet we had rabbits cleaned every time they smelt and never lasted more than 2 years.
I'm not sure if it'll work but what about turning the skimmer off for a couple of hours a day? As you don't have any sps i would have thought a few nutrients won't affect much. Don't take my word for it though:D:rolleyes:
Hi turning a skimmer off for a few hours wont do any good ,as when you turn it back on it will go mad taking out all the nutrients that was not done when it was off. Do you remember that Nano that Macca had, he never changed any water just topped up with RO water and those mushies went mad and when he put them into the coral tanks they went in as they are skimmed tanks. The skimmer is the only change I've done and looking back they were much more healthy when running the old prism?
So less water changes? Downsize in skimmer?

Just posted here: http://www.reefcorals.co.uk/forums/s...418#post111418 ,about the 300 model, might be worth down grading or perhaps just skimmimg over night and leaving the skimmer off during the day?
