    Lightbulb Placement of leathers

Recently had some trouble with my large finger coral and read that perhaps my colt coral was the cause. Having researched the net i found this info:

Colt coral Cladiella is an aggressive coral and needs space between others and itself in the reef aquarium. Particular care should be taken to place Sinularia or Sarcophyton corals out of its reach, as the Cauliflower Colt Coral will readily kill these species.

Thought i would just share this info with fellow reefers.

it is surprising that soft corals are just a problem as some of the hard corals, the mucas off leathers can kill hard corals if it gets on them.i will have to watch out when i start stocking with some soft corals very shortly.derek

It is worth researching before just putting a leather anywhere it looks good in your tank.
Light and flow does matter, some like strong, medium light and flow while some like gentle little dark caves to dwell in. They may be hardy and easy to keep but still need care to thrive.

you should research anything your considering buying, even then, there are some that fly against the accepted norm for the species as well, as for colts being aggressive, i have a big one in my tank, if anything its more effected by the other corals than effects them
