    Default Halide lamp heat damage

    Hi all,
Im picking up a new halide light unit tomorrow which is a triple 150w arcadia unit. My concern is that I suspect the middle lamp will be sat smack bang over the brace on my tank and the heat may cause it to crack. Does anyone know if this is a possible danger and if so would I be able to add a new brace to the left/right of the lamp without emptying my tank of its contents.
    Any advice is appreciated:D

You can add 2 new braces and leave them for a week or 2 to cure and then remove the original one, however I had a 150w mh 6" bove my center brace for 3 years without any problems, If you do do it just make sure that the silicoln has solidified fully first.

    good luck

my 400w halide is in the middle of the bracing bar and gets quite warm,so i have to keep it at least 12in above it just in case it did crack.as long as you keep it a reasonable distance above the bracing bar it should be no problem, as it will not get as hot as my 400w so i would not worry.if you want to change the position of the bar add the new one first and allow it to set for a few days then cut the old one out,you can do this without emptying the tank.derek
