Started the build off in Jan this year with the completion of a vey substantial stand and a space to fill in my living room.
Came up with this:-
I used 3"x3" uprights with 3"x2" cross braces. These are joined with wood glue and 6 4" screws in each corner. I then clad the stand with 12mm MDF and put a nice and thick 18mm piece on top.
Before moving into place I had a look at the floor. Under the 18mm chipboard there was an inch of polystyrene with 1"x1" battoning holding it all up. Under that appeared to be some pretty deep concrete. After adding a load more Joists I replaced the chipboard and got the stand moved into position (and boy was it heavy!).
I then added the 25mm thick polystyrene ready for the tank that would shortly be arriving.

Tank arrived and Keith Windsor & Myself man handled it into position.
The size is 56"x24"x26" the extra two inch back to front makes the tank look significantly more larger than I had imagined.
Couple of hours after delivery and it looked like so.
You can just see the halides peeking out at the top of the picture. These are 2 x 250W lowbays with a 10K reeflux bulb and a 12K reeflux bulb.

Sooo Jumping forward a couple of months, the tank is filled with RO and suitably salted!
Cylcled for a month with 40kg of live rock and a prawn!
Clean up crew of around 20 various hermits - some big some small!
Lighting burned in and showing a distinctive difference between the 2 bulbs.
10k on the left - 12k on the right.

looking good mate.

Well I started with some softies, but I feel the need for some LPS, SPS and a clam now!
I've rejigged my aquascape to something where I imagined it at the start of the build. And SPS and LPS would fit the bill perfectly for filling it all up.

Let me explain something to you. Um, I am not Mr. Lebowski. You're Mr. Lebowski. I'm the Dude. So that's what you call me. You know, that or, uh, His Dudeness, or uh, Duder, or El Duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing.
