Corals - aquacultured or from the reefs ?

I am putting up a poll to find out if you prefer to purchase corals which have been taken from the reefs or corals that have been aquacultured.

Do you know where your corals come from when you purchase them ?

Would you be more tempted to purchase corals from a LFS that sold aquacultured corals rather than one that did'nt ?

Or is the bottom line price ? You would buy from the cheapest place you could get that coral from.

Aqua cultured corals all the time, and when you get them from Macca they are cheap as well to boot so a winner both ways. HTH Twiggy:D:D

good thred this one got to be honest i have only seen soft corals from the reefs the only aquacultured corals i have seen is cutings of hard corals but i would love to see more farmed corals be made easyer to buy :p

Me too, in fact most of my corals are from frags from fellow reefers, and from Maccas. Lets grow our own and leave the reefs alone.

Aquaculture for me seeing them grow from small frags is an added bonus
less taken from the reef the better I say

aqua cultured, but it's not just aquarist damaging the reefs tourist and divers are doing more damage

I would like to think aqua-cultured also have a better chance of doing well being tank raised rather than being ripped from a real reef.

I think any real genuine reef keeper would rather have an empty tank than a dead reef and no hope of it ever coming back!!!!

But saying that price is a very good point and how would you know, its not like buying organic food which has ORGANIC stamped all over it and a price double of the other
