Can anyone id this please, looks like feathers. I have it growing all over a live rock, the hermits ignore it. You can see the shape of it more in the clump on the top left. Its mixed up with what I think is hair algae?? shown on the right. The wife thinks its ugly (i quite like it) but when the boss says, action needed...

How can I get shut of it, short of pulling it out manually on a regular basis?

i would leave it its a type or calerpa by the looks of it it will help keep nitrates down i would just farm it buy ripping it out when it gets too much or get a tang it will eat it all mine did but the it had to go and i now keep a nice lump in one corner

Could be a form of hair algae known as briopsis and unfortunately its a shocker to get rid of as nothing eats it and it grows like wild fire:(
