hi, lots of new reefers seem to be joining the board atm, how about complying a list of animals that should be avoided by new and old reefers alike? that way lfs' would stock less, and less taken out the ocean where they would more than likely live their life to the full extent.
ill start with copperband butterfly fish, imo one of the most stunning fish around...unfortunatley their track records in an aquarium is poor even when feeding.
anyone else to add?

I am going to add the flame scallop, Yes we import them but I advise everyone that they are a hard species to keep.

I agree with the copperband!:(
Dendrophylia was not a great choice!
Any gonipora which look great for months then for no reason just waste away!
2 flat head anthias which i hoped would get on with my shoal of 14 squampinni and bi colour anthias which saw them last for 1 day (thats the last time i will listen to my LFS)
Fire gobies as they just love jumping out of your tank when you are not about and then you find them dried up on the floor!:(
A mating pair of boxing shrimps that since adding i have watched my cleaner shrimp numbers decline.
I will think of some more i am sure!
Cheers

Stick Moorish Idols on the list.
I must admit that conservation and ethics do play a part. However, if people keep these today, then we may be better at keeping them tomorrow. How do we find the balance? Someone had to be the first to keep a clown fish for a sucessful period.
