Well its happened. Thanks to Mick the Fin (cheers buddy) I am now the proud owner of a 6x2x2.

Picked it up on Saturday and have just finished cleaning all the algae from inside and removing the blue paint (emulsion, thankfully) from one end.
Its currently stood in the garden (pic attached) while I decide how to proceed.

I intend to make this a much more considered project than my current tank, and finances will dictate a slow pace, but I fully intend to run my ideas past the members before implementation. Hope you will all give me your comments.

The tank has not been drilled so the first question is where to put the plumbing? Tidyness and space considerations mean I would prefer the bottom to be drilled unless anyone has good reasons not to.

Hi Peter i have a great fear of drilling tank bases after Mousehunters, No seriously i prefer the side drilled as if drilled in the bottom and your connecter and weir leak you have wet carpets.Plus you dont have big lumps of glass weirs to hide, if drilled at the top you only have a shallow weir which is hardly seen. LMAO yee of little faith!!!!!

I went for the bottom as it allows you to put the tank right up against the wall and all pipes ect are hidden concealed in the tank itsself:D

I thought that the problem with mousehunters was caused by toughened glass being used, which can not be anyones fault bar the tank makers.
i like the idea of having the pipework all enclosed, and was considering putting the circulation pumps behind the central weir as well.
