Does anyone know if there is a rule of thumb estimate for calculating how much flow a certain sized drain will comfortably take?

I have been searching all over the web and cannot find anything just other aquarists recommendations, which change from person to person! I thought there would be a table of pump rate versus size of pipe required to drain each rate would exist somewhere?

I am trying to find out for sure how much flow a 32mm drain line will comfortably take in lph?
Thanks

OK I knew this would happen as soon as I post the question I find the answer myself, if only I had waited a few more hours before posting.....

Anyway this may be a useful guide for anyone planning a new set-up, and trying to match up a drain size to their pump output:

I still would be interested in any others that you may know of!
Cheers

Hi Chris sorry just got in and seen your post m8. If you are using a OR 6500 i would have a 50mm outlet pipe just to be on the safe side. HTH Twiggy

Yeah, would love to Eric but would mean stripping down my tank and re-drilling it so I am restricted to what I have, 32mm. Will have to throttle back the OR 6500 to match the drain return, I reckon it will take 3000 lph from what I have read.

I will be home next week any chance of coming over and having a look at your set up:)?
