well the big girl finally succome to regular feeding and decided she was gonna be 2, the left section is now completely seperated and the middle section actually looks detached from the right section from the front only as i cant see properly, not sure if a double split is possible as ive never heard/read of any so maybe its just a little deceiving as it looks now.

well heres my girl opps girls:)

Hi Berns.

BTA's are prolific splitters and that is why when you dive on a reef you tend to find many very close together in a field of BTA's.

I have had my BTA for just under 7 years and it has split 14 times.

I have sold most on but the smallest is around the size of a golf ball.

Well done though pal!

cheers peeps, i was getting alittle worried with her size recently as only a 4x2x2 and she over 12" when fully expanded, the middle section is still hard to determine wats goin on as it now has sunk/crawled lower into rock its on, tho its tenticles are sticking up it looks like its a filling in a sandwiched lol as both left and right sections have now more expanded tenticles.

yea fj i hear rbta are renowned for splitting and this one originally came from the known reefer (cant remember his name) in stevenage and when i collected he had about 3 or 4 smaller ones in his tank, i think i have the parent nem as this was twice as big as his others and this one has diff length tenticles around it (sign of previous splitting/regrowth of tenticles) maybe seller thought she all finished splitting so sold and kept offspring.

i have a mate been nagging me for ages offering silly money to get her but having seen lots rbta i must confess mine has the strongest most vibrant colouring of them all and under actinics the green roots of tenticles add to her beauti, im a very lucky chappy to of got her:D

danny's show tank at watford has a big ****** but i think mine got the deep richest colour:D

i dont do alot but feed her, actually i played tactics with her which might of helped her decision to split, i fed her once a week for first 3 months or so then started feeding her twice a week for few months then over last 6 weeks i only fed her once every 2 weeks. getting plenty of food to hardley any over period of time might have contributed, as fj says rbta are known for their easy/regular splitting so from feeding alot to hardly at all might be a factor as lack of food not enough to sustain a big nem so triggered natural survival behaviour???? who knows

As you say, who knows? What I do know is that you have one, I don't. Envy or what.:D

kev rose bubbles are not rare if you ask your lfs they can obtain them from tmc

actually im gonna gloat some more as i found some proper blue zoa's today:D
i was looking at glowy pinky/tangarine coloured zoanthid rock but wat caught my eye was the tiny bunch of green lashed/blue centers polyps, not the regular light blue/green mix but a solid single coloured dark blue center, so ive had a good couple days:D

Hi Berns

I think I am more questioning my abilities in respect of keeping this animal alive than its availability:(
