Hi. My first fish were 2 common clowns, like most people its either clowns or damsels but they soon get rid of the damsels as they are little a---holes. :) Eric
a yellow tail blue damsel was my first purchase.

For me it was a Humbug - BIG MISTAKE.

lol - damsels for us too. A pair of blue devils no less. However, they never lived up to their name. Very easy going little fish that very rarely if at all bothered any new additions. The exception being the very next fish we added, an algae blenny. Even then it settled down after a couple of hours and they were all buddies after that. I lost one of the pair earlier in the year for some reason, but the other is still going fine just over 2 years later. Absolutely fantastic colour and its great to see him zipping about amongst the corals.
Wouldn't get any more damsels though

my first was actually about 13 all at once, 9x various damsels, big lunar wrasse, puffer fish, picasso trigger, 4" female yellow band clown,
i purchased someone's tank contents for the rock and equipment, all but clown were traded in at lfs as didnt want damsels and invertibrate munchers tho i did keep them all for 6 weeks or so.

Pair of clowns for me too. Wanted one since I saw one in a shop as a kid. Finally got a pair of the TMC black ocellaris about five years ago.
My first livestock was the bloody mantis that came in on the live rock:mad:
A Mantis. Unlucky or what. I think I would have packed up at that point.:D

Finally after 2 months of been messed about i have taken delivery of my new tank( Aquaone aquastyle 850) i will be assembling the cabinet tonight then popping to Marine Tech to get some RO water. It has been a very frustrating time for me as the supplier sent me the wrong tank 3 times!! but i am now ready to continue my journey into the unknown! I will then put my live rock in on thurs night and wait the 4 weeks or so for it to cycle...to say i'm excited is an understatement!!

The Reason i went in to marines as a job was because I set up my first marine tank 8 years ago and got sold damsels and they kicked a** and the next thing sold to me was a hairy giant hermit and a foxface and the hermit went in and destroyed the tank in 20 mins and the lfs never said the the foxface was venemous:mad: so i took it back and he said i never asked lol i have never kept marines until this point and was hoping he would help me,how wrong i was. so i went to another lfs and was a bit better but not much.:( so i starting experimenting with marines. i did have a good understanding of water quality and filtration beacause i was breeding fresh water fish on a big scale as a hobby,And now i have a shop selling marine only and go out of my way to learn about every customers systems just so they get the right live stock etc for there system not just what they think they should have in there because it looks nice.
I do the job because of the love of it! If i go home at the end of the day knowning i have help people keep and better system and put a smile on there faces i'm a happy man:D sounds sad i know but just love helping people
