View Full Version : Metal Halides
Just curious.
I am running a 150wt halide lamp, and its almost 1 year old.
How often do you change your halide lamp bulbs?

Hi Kev. Not had halides for the past few years, but when i did have them i used to change the lamps every 12 months or so but i dont think it matters to much if you only have softies. HTH. Eric
That was my thougt too Eric. Don't like throwing the hard earned away unecessarily. I do have a Deresa clam in there and 3 lps along witht the softies, but will probably string the current halide out for a few more months.

I would say change the bulbs between 10 and 12 months to be safe. after that the light spectrum may fail. Giving rise to unwanted algea problems.
That my limited understanding. H.T.H.:)

Cheers. I need to stop myself from being so tight with the wallet maybe?:D

I know what you mean Kev but if i were you i would alway keep a spare lamp as they always seem to go pop when all the shops are closed. My m8s 400 watter has just blown today and he cant get one for 2 or 3 days, which is a bummer really as he has quite a few large Anenomes and they will be suffering without the light. HTH. Eric
Eric, good point.
I suppose I could buy a new lamp, and keep the old as a spare for emergency use?
The current bulb I use, is an aqualine 10000 150W. Anyone no where I can get a good deal on one of these?
