Hi they are herbivores so they eat algaes also flake and Mysis shrimp, i hope you tank is big enough for it to grow up as they are active swimmers. HTH Twiggy:D:D

Hi if its only a small tang it will be ok for a few months, but they really need about 70 to 100 gallon tank. HTH Twiggy:D:D

He is ok for the minute then he is only a couple of inches.
So will he eat salad leaves?

Eric being the tang god etc... Ive always thought that my 3x2x2 was to small for a tang, Although after reading scores of threads especially from europe the yellows seemto be common stock for 3x2x2 whats your opinion.
Thanks

Mine was one of the first fish I got and he's lovely, boss of the tank and a lovely size now. I think out of all the tangs that are available yellows are the most placid in terms of swimming needs and are happy enough just to slowly move around the tank, well thats what mine does?

Hi when you say salad leaves do you mean lettuce if so this is no good they want proper seaweed algaes. Lettuce does not break down in the fishes gut and can cause problems, the ideal stuff is either Nori from a Chinese shop or seaweed salad from LFS. HTH Twiggy:D:D

Hi Jay your right in what your saying , but as long as you upgrade in 12 months and only keep one tang in a tank that size you should be ok. Tangs are very terrertorial and if they are in a small tank with another tang they will fight and end up with Whitespot. HTH Twiggy:D:D

Hey Tangman I have been thinking about what you have said... How will I know when he is getting too big for the tank? Obviously I have no intentions of keeping fish in cramped conditions & now I feel that I may have made a bad choice.:( He is only a couple of inches at the mo & seems happy as larry in his new home.
my tang love the New Era flake for herbivores:D, I also feed him mysis every other day;)

Hi if he starts bullying other fish especially at feed time or any time he his showing signs of stress. You will be ok with him on his own with no other tangs until he gets to about 4inch , then you will need to upgrade. HTH Twiggy:D:D

Thanks, he looks very happy in his new home. He has just a few green chromis & a blue throat trigger(new arrival) as tank mates & I think he is the alpha fish. They are all very placid & he hangs around with his mate trig all the time.:) Wont be getting any more fish for a while as the tank needs to adjust now, maybe a clown goby for the bottom later on. They get through half a sheet of nori a day & some mysis. Will be getting some new era food next LFS visit.
Thanks for all the advice.
